Joseph M. “Junior” Elizardo, Jr., 62, of Taunton, MA, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston. He was the former husband of Cynthia (Benoit) Elizardo of Taunton.

Born in Fall River, MA, a son of Alice (Pacheco) Elizardo of Dighton and the late Joseph S. Elizardo, he lived most of his life in Taunton. He was a graduate of Taunton High School, class of 1969 where he was a member of the State Championship Football Team. He was a former assistant football coach for several years at Taunton High School.

Mr. Elizardo worked as a sales associate for several years in the lawn and garden center at Home Depot. He previously operated the former Elizardo’s Farm in Taunton for many years with his late father.

He loved Nascar and was and avid fan of the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and Boston Bruins.

Besides his mother and former wife, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie M. Gauthier (Husband Tom) of Fall River; a son, Brian J. Elizardo of Taunton, MA; a sister, Sue Medeiros (Husband Benny) of Dighton, MA; his fiance, Ana Andrade; 2 nieces and a nephew; and a great-niece.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours Friday 4 – 7 p.m.
