Adelina Afonso

Adelina (Torres) Afonso, 98, of 27 Grant St., a retired machine operator, died Sunday at Warren Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Valdemar "Val" Afonso.



Born in Achadinha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Inacio Torres and Jacinta de Jesus; she lived most of her life in Fall River and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mrs. Afonso worked for 32 years in the local garment industry.



She is survived by her caregivers, niece Natalia and nephew Jose; and several other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Torres, Jose Torres, Antonio Torres, Manuel Torres, Estrela Torres, Joao Torres, Mariana de Jesus Torres and Serafin Torres.



Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m.
