Alesandra Schmidt Woodhouse

Alesandra “Sandy” Schmidt Woodhouse, age 90, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on March 5, 2026.

    She was the devoted wife of the late Caleb Randall Woodhouse, sharing 20 years of marriage together before his passing in 2020.

    Born in Suffield, Connecticut , on October 11, 1935 , she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Schmidt Jr. and Madge M. McCoy.

    Alesandra was a highly educated and dedicated professional, earning her doctorate and dedicating her career to working as a research librarian at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She lived in Suffield, Connecticut for much of her adult life, caring for and living with her mother for many years. A lifelong academic, she was passionate about classics and loved reading and poetry. She was a flutist earlier in her life and took up painting later in her life when she moved to Little Compton. She was a kind, loving, and caring person, and she will be dearly missed.

    She is survived by her stepson, Erik Woodhouse, and his wife Kim of Oakland, California; her stepdaughter, Ingeborg Woodhouse, and her husband Fred; her brother-in-law Hilary G. Woodhouse and his wife Helen of Little Compton, RI; and three step-grandchildren, Liam, Oni, and Sam.

    Private services are under the direction of the Oliveira Funeral Homes.
