Alfred T. Moniz

Alfred T. Moniz, 91, formerly of Doolan Apts. and Harrison St., Fall River, died Sunday at Somerset Ridge Center. He was the husband of the late Laura (Terceira) Moniz.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Manuel T. and Rosa (Raulino) Moniz; he lived most of his life in Fall River. He attended Fall River Public Schools and received a Associates Degree from Bristol Community College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was awarded two Bronze Stars for service in the Central Europe Rhineland Campaign. Mr. Moniz worked for Carol Cable in New Bedford. He was an avid dancer, known for his ballroom dancing and enjoyed traveling. His nieces and nephews would like to acknowledge the the staff at Somerset Ridge for their extraordinary care given to their uncle and Rev. Larry Smith and Ashley with Compassionate Hospice Care and their veteran contact Ed Jones.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Benerly Santos of CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel T. Moniz, Joseph T. Moniz, George T. Moniz, John T. Moniz, Antone T. Moniz and Mary T. Coelho.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment with military honors in Notre Dame Cemetery.
