Alice A. Browning

January 19, 1925 — January 11, 2015

Alice A. (Barboza) Browning, 89, of Tiverton, RI, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of the late Gerald R. Browning.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Antone and Caroline (Pacheco) Barboza; she was a resident of Tiverton for over 40 years and was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church. She was a former member of the I.L.G.W.U., now U.N.I.T.E.

Mrs. Browning last worked as a sewing machine operator for several years in the local garment industry. She previously was a clerical worker at the Newport Naval Base and at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois.

She is survived by a son, Robert M. Goncalo (Wife Nancy) of Fall River; three grandchildren, Robert Goncalo, Kim Affonso and Kevin Goncalo; five great-grandchildren, Veronica, Sydney, Alexis, Ryan and Evan; a niece and a nephew. She was the sister of the late Gilbert Barboza.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 2-5 p.m.
