Almorinda Silvia

Almorinda "Alma" (Reis) Silvia, 86, of Tiverton; formerly of Russell Street Westport; died Sunday at home. She was the wife of the late John S. Silvia.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline (Carreiro) Reis.

Mrs. Silvia worked a bus monitor for the Braga Bus Company for many years, retiring in 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Mendoza of Palm Bay, FL and Adeline Mellen of Fall River, MA; 2 sons, John Silvia of Somerset, MA and Kenneth Silvia of Tiverton, RI; a sister, Margaret Penning of Pekin, IL, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary Soares, Joseph Reis and David Reis.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 7 - 9 p.m.
