Alvaro Ferreira

Alvaro Ferreira , 94, of Westport, MA, formerly of Tower St., Fall River, died Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Albertina (Souza) Ferreira.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Cordeiro) Ferreira; he lived most of his life in Fall River; spending the past 15 years in Westport. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Ferreira worked for many years at the Fall River Housing Authority as the assistant lease housing director, retiring in 1986; having previously worked as a business agent for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael Ferreira and his wife Natalia of Westport, Richard Ferreira and his wife Debra of Maine and Paul Ferreira of Tiverton, RI; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Ferreira, Arthur Garcia, Manuel Ferreira, Mary Vincent, Angelina Perry and Margaret Ferry.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. The family will gather privately at the funeral home on the morning of the funeral. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Arrangements are by the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St.
