Ana M. Tavares

FALL RIVER - Ana Maria (Pimentel) Tavares, age 89, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at Southpointe Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joao Tavares.
Ana was born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria dos Anjos (Tavares) Pimentel; she lived in this country since 1966 and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mrs. Tavares worked as a trimmer for many years in the local garment industry. She was a member of the former I.L.G.W.U., now UNITE.
She is survived by a three sons, Victor Tavares (wife Alda), Carlos Tavares (wife Natalie) and Emanuel Tavares (wife Cheryl) all of Fall River; two sisters, Carminha Medeiros of Fall River and Natalia Turner of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren, Derek Tavares, Jamie Tavares, Melissa Amaral, Nichole Moniz, Keith Tavares, Jenna-Lyn Tavares and Kyle Tavares; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joao Tavares and the sister of the late Carlos Santos, Irondina Casiano, Conceicao Sousa, Fernanda Pimentel and Hilda Mendonca.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. in Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Robeson Street. Calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m.
