Andre Lavoie

Andre “Andy” R. Lavoie, 87, of Tiverton, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

    Andy was a devoted member of the Tiverton community and a faithful parishioner of St. Theresa Church, where he was known as one of the parish’s dedicated “old timers.” Over the years, Andy generously gave his time and talents to many aspects of parish life. He served as a lector, choir member, Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion, Faith Formation teacher, parish trustee, and member of the finance council and building committee. He was also actively involved in many parish events and initiatives, including managing the parish’s monthly Calendar Raffle and supporting the annual parish festival.

    Andy also played an important role in celebrating the life of the parish community. He served as Master of Ceremonies for St. Theresa’s 25th and 50th Anniversary celebrations. Those who attended the anniversary dinners will fondly remember Andy joyfully singing “Alouette” with Bishop Louis Gelineau, a moment that reflected his warmth, humor, and love for the parish he served so faithfully.

    Andy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for many years at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island, where he remained until his retirement in 1994.

    He was the son of the late Omer and Fabiola Lavoie and the brother of the late Evelyn Lavoie, Raymond Lavoie, and Norman Lavoie.

    He is survived by his loving caregiver and nephew, Paul N. Lavoie, and by two nieces, Paulette Duquette and Annette M. Camara. Andy will be remembered with affection by his family, friends, and the many parishioners whose lives were touched by his generosity, dedication, and commitment to his faith community.

    A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton, RI on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private.
