Angelica “Angie” (Carvalho) Freitas, 74, of Fall River, passed away January 14, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Santa Barbara Alem Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Casmiro) Carvalho. She had lived most of her life in Fall River.
Angie was a deeply religious woman and communicant of The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, where she was a devoted volunteer. Prior to retiring, she had worked in the garment industry for several local mills and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker Union. She enjoyed writing, singing, and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Angie was always willing to help people, whether they were family, friends, or strangers.
Survivors include her daughters: Melissa Freitas (husband Jamie Bohn) of New Bedford and Rachel Freitas of Fall River; her sisters: Mary S. Oliveira of Somerset, Eduarda Aguiar of Somerset, Fern Carvalho of Fall River and Terry Augusto of Fall River; her brothers: Antone Carvalho of Swansea and Hank Carvalho of Westport; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Carvalho, Joseph Carvalho, and Donna Burns.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Mary's Cathedral, Second Street, Fall River. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 – 8 PM.
