Anibal N. Mendes

FALL RIVER - Anibal N. Mendes, 81, of Fall River, died Saturday, February 11th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Olivia (Carvalho) Mendes.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, he was a son of the late Julio and Maria Agusta (Carneiro) Mendes; he lived most of his life in Fall River.
Mr. Mendes was a construction laborer for many years and part-owner of F.C. Construction. He was a member of Santo Christo Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ann Ferreira of Taunton, MA and Linda Machado and her husband Richard of Fall River; a son, Anibal Mendes, Jr. and his wife Lori Rodrigues of Wareham, MA; a brother, Americo Mendes of Fall River; six grandchildren, Shelby, Loretta Julia, Nicholas Blake, Abagail Sophia Ariana and Ryan; a great-grandson, Zayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Steven Ferreira.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, February 15th at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m.
