Private funeral services were held for Anthony G. Aguiar, 93, of Tiverton, RI, a retired heavy equipment operator, who died on Tuesday Aug. 25th at home. He was the husband of the late Eugenia "Jenny" (Figuerido) Aguiar.
Born in Tiverton, RI, he was a son of the late Antone and Emily (Perry) Aguiar; he lived most of his life in Tiverton and was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church. He was a U.S Army veteran, serving during WW II. Mr. Aguiar worked out of the International Union of Operating Engineers for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Adeline Leite (husband George) of Tiverton; three sisters, Sophie Figerie of Tiverton, Mary Brady of Virginia and Florence Clarke of Ohio; a brother, John Aguiar of Tiverton; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Geraldine Rodrigues, Sandra Rebello and Deborah Sherman; brother of the late Katherine Dupont, Irene Arruda, William Aguiar and Jesse Aguiar.
