Antonio De Paiva Couto, 85, of Fall River, passed away May 9th, 2024 at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River.
He was the loving husband of Maria Olga (Cabral) Couto.
Born in Ribeirinha, Ribeira Grande, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose do Couto Rego and Didia Janeiro Paiva.
Prior to retiring, Antonio worked for most of his career as a material handler, at the former Quaker Fabrics. Before immigrating to the United States, he worked as a coach bus driver in the Azores and served in the Portuguese Army. In his free time, he loved gardening and spending time with his family.
Along with his wife, Antonio is survived by his children: Jennifer Santos, Paula Campos, and Manuela Lescault; his grandchildren Autumn Tessier, Makayla Tessier, Braylee Santos, Jeremy Santos, and Tyler Campos; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
His funeral will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday evening, May 17, 2024 from 5 – 8 PM.
