Arthur R. Pereira

FALL RIVER - Arthur R. Pereira, 84, of Tiverton, RI, a retired electrical engineer, died Friday, October 21st at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Adelina S. (Furtado) Pereira.
Born in Sao Vicente, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel de Melo Pereira and Francelina (dos Reis) Pereira; he was a Tiverton resident for many years and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church. Mr. Pereira ended his employment career with Foamex International in E. Providence, having previously been employed by Firestone Rubber & Tire Co. He was a member of the American Engineering Society and the Liberal Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan R. Pollard and her husband Wayne A. of Portsmouth, RI; a sister, Celestina Amaral of St. Michael, Azores; two granddaughters, Angela Pollard and Alyssa Pollard; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, October 28th at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton. Committal prayers and interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
