Beatrice Chouinard

January 5, 1941 — May 12, 2014

Beatrice (Arruda) Chouinard, 73, of Howland St., Fall River, a retired curtain cutter, died Monday at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph H. "Harvey" Chouinard.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Antone and Beatrice (Amaral) Arruda, Sr.; she was a lifelong resident of Fall River and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton. She was employed for many years by the former Carousel Curtain Mfg. Mrs. Chouinard worked for several years as a crossing guard for the City of Fall River at the Atlantis Charter School in the South End and was a lunch aide for several years at the Carlton M. Viveiros School.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Linda Proulx (husband James) of Somerset and Debra Chouinard (fiancé Gary Furtado) of Somerset; 6 grandchildren, Corrine Gaboriau, Corissa Gaboriau, Brenden Chouinard, Kara Gaboriau, Rebecca Chouinard and Joshua Furtado; a great-grandchild, Baron Philip Lastowski, Jr.; three godchildren, Shirley Miller, Dawn Arruda and Kyle Arruda; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antone Arruda, Jr.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton. Committal prayers and interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. at the South Main St. location.
