Cynthia M. (Oliveira) Roderick, 79, of Assonet, passed away August 30, 2024 at home, surrounded by her family.
She was the widow of the late John Roderick.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Oliveira and Lydia (Morris) Oliveira.
Cynthia had a rich and diverse career that spanned several fields and reflected her dedication and compassion. She began her professional journey with quality control inspections at Hasbro Toy Company before working as a waitress at the Venus De Milo Restaurant. Driven by a desire to make a difference, she pursued a college degree and transitioned into a rewarding role as a special needs teacher at George R. Austin Intermediate School, also later working at the Montgomery Home, in Middleboro.
A devoted parishioner of St. Bernard's Church, Cynthia's generosity extended beyond her work; she was known for her charitable spirit, often donating to various organizations and bringing joy to her family with thoughtful holiday gifts. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Dean W. Lewis, Jr. (fiance Tayla) and Robert Lewis.
She is survived by her two sons Dean W. Lewis (wife Kristin) and William D. Lewis (wife Karen), several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Her visitation will be held from 4 - 6 PM Friday, September 13, at the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St., Fall River.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, September 14, at 9 AM at St. Bernard Church, 30 S. Main St., Assonet, MA. Please meet directly at church. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
