Daniel A. Carvalho

Daniel A. "Danny" "Uncle Danny" Carvalho, 52, of New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, died Sunday at his sister's residence surrounded by his family. Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Antonio R. and Alice J. (Lima) Carvalho; he lived most of his life in Fall River, spending the past 6 years in Florida. He formerly worked as a cook for a local nursing home.

Danny was known for his smile, laugh, giving heart and unending generosity, always willing to help others in need. He loved music and was known to take over the stereo upon entering your house.

Danny is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Gomes (husband Troy) of New Bedford; four brothers, Antonio R. Carvalho of New York, John Carvalho of Fall River, Paul Carvalho of New Jersey and Michael Carvalho (wife Lisbeth) of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He practically raised his nephew and niece, along with his late mother, Antone Carvalho and Cynthia Hennings. He was the brother of the late Richard Carvalho and the longtime companion of the late Eric "Shade" Fitzgerald.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral, Spring St. Committal prayers and interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Friday 5-9 p.m.
