David Alan Tougas, age 85, of Bristol, formerly of Little Compton, died peacefully after a short illness, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Mass. 

    Dave was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Henry & Hazel (Fletcher) Tougas of Little Compton, RI. 

    Dave grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Pawtucket High school in 1960. After high school, Dave served in the US Army as a cook, adding to the skills he learned working in his parent’s restaurant in “Compton House” in S. Attleboro, Mass.

    Dave worked diligently as a bartender at the Ramada Inn in Seekonk, Mass. for many years, and at the former Crowther’s restaurant in Little Compton. While tending bar he enjoyed meeting people and cracking jokes. He was known for his quick wit.

    He enjoyed tending to his rose bushes, cooking on the grill, and taking drives to South Shore beach of Little Compton. He especially loved watching the New England Pats and the Boston Red Sox!

    Dave was preceded in death by his only sibling, Ronald Henry Tougas of Voluntown, CT. Dave is survived by his former spouse Maria F. Tougas of Shepherdsville, Ky; only child Michelle T. Kittredge and husband, Gary of Durham, North Carolina; cherished "Pepé" of Ashley Kittredge, Bethany Ratliff and her husband Nick, and Sophia Kittredge. He was recently blessed to become a great-grandfather to Rowan Ratliff.

    Dave is also survived by his sister-in-law, June Prescott Tougas of Voluntown, CT; and his nieces and nephew: Donna (Tougas) and Neil Vaughan of Deerfield, NH; Karen (Tougas) and Dwayne Britt, and Craig Tougas of Voluntown, CT.

    A private family celebration of life will be held North Carolina
