FALL RIVER - Donna M. (Sardinha) Garant, 59, of Fall River, a school teacher, died Sunday, May 14th unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Garant.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Fall River, Donna was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1975. She attended Bristol Community College, Bridgewater State University and received her double masters in public health and curriculum development from Lesley University in Cambridge.
Mrs. Garant was currently working as a 3rd grade teacher at James L. Mulcahey Elementary School in Taunton. She previously worked at the Fowler Elementary School and the Atlantis Charter School on South Main Street.
Besides her husband of almost 33 years, she is survived by two daughters, Genna T. Garant and her fiancé Dustin Aguiar of Fall River and Gillian G. Elias and her husband Corey Elias of Westport, MA; a beloved friend who was like a sister, Carol Perry of Fall River; a brother-in-law, Roland D. Garant of Fall River; two grandchildren, Jazmyn Garant and Cheyanna Elias; a soon to be grandson, Jionni expected in early June; a aunt; cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, May 23rd at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Espirito Santo Church, Alden Street, Fall River. Burial of cremains will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation Monday 5-8 pm.
