Dorothea Cordeiro

Dorothea (Carreiro) Cordeiro, 94, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on May 4, 2026 at The Catholic Memorial Home.

    She was the widow of the late Frederick Cordeiro, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage after they wed in 1951.

    Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the loving daughter of the late Antone and Olivia (Sousa) Carreiro.

    Dorothea dedicated her life to making a warm and loving home for her family. She had a wonderful spirit and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to music and had a passion for singing. In her free time, she could often be found enjoying a lively game of bingo with her sisters-in-law or working on various crafts, but her greatest happiness always came from simply spending time with her family.

    She is survived by her two daughters, Cecilia Ledoux and her husband Louis of Fall River, MA, and Judith Baker and her husband John of Somerset, MA. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Matthew Ledoux and his spouse Xenia, Andrew Baker and his spouse Amanda, Courtney and her fiancé Conner, and Ashley Melo and her spouse Wayne; and eight great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Cameron, Ava, Aubrey, Everleigh, Briyah, Benjamin, and Dunnivan. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters: Armand Carreiro, Albert Carreiro, Edward Carreiro, Dolores Fortier, Antoinette Botelho, Hilda Tessier, Laura Wyatt, and Fernando Carreiro.

    Her visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, from 8:30 - 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River.

    Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM, at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery.
