Elaine R. Veeder

Elaine Rhoda (Rogers) Veeder, 73, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on May 9, 2026.

    She was the beloved wife of Thomas John Arsenault.

    Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Manuel Rogers and Jeannette (Turgeon) Rogers.

    Elaine spent her working years as a home health aide, bartender, at the Standard Times, and later worked as a dedicated cashier at Market Basket. A longtime fixture in the New Bedford community, she had a vibrant spirit and found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. Elaine loved taking trips to the casino, going for scenic rides by the beach, and visiting the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. In her earlier years, she generously gave her time to the Salvation Army. Whether she was getting her hair done with the ladies or attending local events, Elaine loved being active. Above all else, she cherished the time she spent surrounded by her family and her grandchildren.

    In addition to her husband, Thomas, she is survived by her daughter, Sherry Reid (and her late husband, William); her grandchildren, Scott Michael Viveiros (partner Joshua Pacheco), Kaylyn Monty, Kodie N. Lefevre, Darren Joseph Monty, and Jason Monty; as well as several great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, the late Jeffrey Monty.
