Elizabeth Ann (Pytel) Martin

September 7, 1939 — June 14, 2018

Elizabeth Ann Martin (née Pytel), 78, passed away on June 14, 2018 at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Liz was born in Fall River, MA and during her life lived in Somerset, Somerville, Cambridge, and Williamstown, MA, as well as Little Compton, RI. She returned to Fall River in 1999.

Early in her life Liz enjoyed dancing and taught dance lessons at an Arthur Murray studio. She worked at Arkwright Finishing in Fall River as a bookkeeper and secretary. Liz later worked as a waitress at Abraham Manchester’s and Crowther’s in Little Compton, RI, as well as White’s of Westport, MA. A skilled baker, Liz baked breads and pies for a time at The Provender in Tiverton, RI. Her family fondly remembers all the delicious breads, cookies, and pastries their mom made with love.

Liz was an avid reader and also loved spending time by the ocean, especially at the beaches in Little Compton. She had a deep respect and kinship for animals and took special care to rescue and nurture animals throughout her life.

Her parents were the late Louis and Anna (Mis) Pytel. Liz is survived by her siblings, Anthony Pytel (Doris) and Jane Monteiro (Paul), her four children: Carole Quigley, Sharon Senna (Frank), Sean Quigley (Carrie), and Jennifer Martin, her four grandchildren: Joshua Quigley, Katherine Quigley, Nicholas Quigley, and Grace Phipps, several nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved cat, Julie.

A celebration of life is planned for June 23rd at 10:00 AM at Oliveira’s Funeral Home, 2064 S. Main St., Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Liz with a donation in her memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to your favorite animal care shelter or foundation.
