Ernesto L. Borges

Ernesto L. Borges, 87, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River, surrounded by his family.

He was the loving husband of Ana M. (Tavares-Pereira) Borges.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Ernesto Borges and Maria dos Anjos Leite Amaral.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Borges worked for several years as a machine operator at Whosale Carpet Co., in Bristol, RI. He was a devoted parishioner of Santo Christo Church and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Fall River Sports and the former Academica Club. He was an avid Benfica fan and enjoyed fishing, playing scratch tickets, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Armando T. Borges (Jeannette), of Fall River, and Norberto T. Borges (Julie Charron), of Swansea; his siblings: Eduarda Leite Borges, Maria de Lurdes Leite Borges, and Arlete Leite Borges, all of Canada; his grandchildren: Mario Borges, Andrew Borges, Kevin Borges, Ricky Gonsalves, and Jaydon Borges; his great grandchildren: Madison, Holly Grace, Dallas, and Camdan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Joao Leite Borges and Maria Jose Leite Borges.

His funeral will be held Monday, August 21, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St, Fall River, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, at Santo Christo Church. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening, from 6 - 9 PM.
