Fatima Machado

Fatima (Soares) Machado, 83, of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

    She was the loving wife of the late Jorge B. Machado.

    Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Soares and Joana Pacheco Soares.

    During her career, Fatima worked in office administration within the textile industry. She shared all her passions and commitments with her beloved husband, as the two were inseparable. A faithful parishioner of Santo Christo Church, she was deeply involved in the community alongside Jorge, dedicating time to the Ateneu Luso American Club and the Portuguese Business Association. Outside of her professional and community commitments, Fatima had a love for life—enjoying dancing, frequent outings, and traveling to the Azores. Above all, she cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.

    She is survived by her children, Richard Machado (wife Linda) and Ana Carreiro (husband Peter); her grandchildren, Nathan P. Carreiro, Abagail S. Machado, and Lucas P. Carreiro; her sisters, Gloria Lourenço and Maria Dos Anjos Pereira, both of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Antonio Pereira, Manuel Soares, and Lourdes Soares.

    A visitation will be held Sunday evening August 16, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA.

    His funeral will follow the next day Monday, August 17, at 9 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River, MA.

    The family would like to also thank the staff at Country Gardens in Swansea, for the care that they provided to Fatima.
