Ferdinand R. Viveiros

FALL RIVER - Ferdinand R. "Bull" Viveiros, 91, of Fall River, died Tuesday, February 7th at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary (Ferreira) Viveiros.
Born in Bristol, RI, he was a son of the late Louis and Maria (Bragantine) Viveiros; he lived most of his life in Fall River. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WW II. He took part in the invasion of France and was a D-Day Survivor, serving on such vessels and stations as the NTS Sampson, NY, USS LST 537, USS Fall River and USS Wyandot.
He was a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Woodrow L. Silvia Post 5392 in Tiverton, the Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and LST Association.
Mr. Viveiros worked as a lead shipper for 42 years at Haskon Corporation in Taunton.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Alves and her husband Peter of Somerset, MA; two sons, Dean Viveiros of Fall River and Ferdinand R. Viveiros, Jr. and his wife Violet of E. Taunton, MA; a sister, Loretta Bouchard of Tiverton, RI; three grandchildren, Scott A. Viveiros who lived with him, Jennie E. Viveiros and Peter J. Alves, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edmund Viveiros, Elsie Sousa, Louis R. Viveiros, David Viveiros and Norman Viveiros.
His funeral will be held Saturday, February 11th at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church, South Main Street, Fall River. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8 p.m.
