Fernando M. Pereira

Fernando M. Pereira, 58, of Fall River, a former carpenter and garment worker, died Tuesday, Aug. 16th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Maria C. (Da Ponte) Pereira.
Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Luiz M. and Luiza C. (Medeiros) Pereira; he emigrated to this country when he was 11 years old and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mr. Pereira last worked for several years as a self-employed carpenter and before that as a presser for many years at the former Darwood Mfg.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberly P. Pedro and her husband Kevin of Fall River; a son, David Pereira and his girlfriend Allyson Katz of Fall River; two sisters, Fatima M. De Sousa and Mary Lou Sangermano, both of Fall River; three brothers, Luis Pereira of Somerset, Jose M. Pereira of St. Michael, Azores and Mario Pereira of Swansea; three grandchildren, Elliana M. Pedro, Ashton D. Pereira and Gavin D. Pereira; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 7:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 6-9 p.m.
