George Robert DePontes

George Robert DePontes, age 63, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on April 30, 2026.

    He was the husband of Nancy (Sousa) DePontes.

    Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Joseph DePontes and Theresa Marie (Bergeron) DePontes.

    George proudly served his country in the United States Navy before pursuing his passion for food. He earned a degree from the National Institute of Culinary Arts and enjoyed a long career as a talented chef. He spent many years working at Quaker Fabric and later served as a manager at Denny’s. Beyond his professional life, George was a man of great style who took pride in dressing well and keeping up with fashion. He was a massive New England sports fan who especially loved cheering on Tom Brady. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music and playing video games—particularly racing games—but nothing brought him more joy than the time he spent playing with his grandchildren.

    In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his three children: Alissa Lee Ann Gagne, Sheena Moss, and Victoria DePontes; his four grandchildren: Shawn Gagne, Destinie Arruda, Lucy DePontes, and Owen Oliver; his brother, Joseph DePontes; and his sister, Crystal Macura. He was preceded in death by his late brother, Karem DePontes.

    Private arrangements are under the direction of the Oliveira Funeral Homes.
