Georgianna Cordeiro

Georgianna (Andrade) Cordeiro, 95, of Hathaway Commons Road, Fall River, died Wednesday. She was the wife of 62 years to George A. Cordeiro.

Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Antone and Julia (Cordeiro) Andrade; and step-daughter of the late Maria Andrade; she was a lifelong resident of this city.

Mrs. Cordeiro worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Shelburne Shirt and also for Stella-Ann Frocks, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of the former Our Ladies of Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.

She enjoyed cooking, cross stitching and quilting.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Mello of Fall River; a sister, Florence Souza of Fall River; a grandson, Ryan Matthew Mello; a god-daughter, Joyce Reis and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Martins, grandmother of the late Elizabeth Mello and mother-in-law of the late Arthur Mello.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 2064 South Main St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5 - 9 p.m.
