Gerard J. Cyr

Gerard J. Cyr, 86, of Fall River, a retired electronics technician, died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Ferreira) Cyr.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Jean Xavier and Caroline (Gagnon) Cyr; he was a lifelong resident of Fall River. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during Korea. Mr. Cyr worked for 36 for Naval Underwater Service Center (NUSC) at the Newport Naval Base.
He was a life member of the Liberal Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. J. Boehr Council in Tiverton. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish.
Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa M. Cyr (fiance Steven Pavao) of Fall River; a son, David M. Cyr of Fall River; and two grandsons, Cory S. Cyr and David M. Cyr, Jr. He was the brother of the late Rena "Pat" Cyr.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
