Ines M. Fernandes

FALL RIVER - Ines (Melo) Fernandes, 91, of Fall River, a homemaker, died Wednesday, September 28th at St. Anne's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Antonio J. Fernandes.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Gil Pereira Melo and Maria da Conceicao (Sousa) Melo; born in this city, she spent her earlier years in the village of Mosteiros , St. Michael, Azores before returning to this county in 1957. Mrs. Fernandes was a member of Santo Christo Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Maria de Fatima Caldas and her husband Antonio P. of Fall River; two sons, Jose J. Fernandes and his wife Fidelia of Fall River and Manuel J. Fernandes, also known as M. Jack and his wife Marie of Fall River; a sister, Maria Conceicao Mendonca of Nevada; four grandchildren, Jose Fernandes, Jr., Heath Fernandes, Michael A. Fernandes and Shawn S. Fernandes; a step-grandson, Derick St. Ours; three great-grandchildren, Cody Fernandes, Logan Fernandes and Haidyn Fernandes; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel P. Melo and the great-grandmother of the late Shane M. Fernandes.
Her funeral will be held Monday, October 3rd at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5-8 p.m.
