Inez Ayers

Inez M. Ayres, age 87, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on October 10, 2026, at Saint Anne's Hospital.

    Born in Acushnet, Massachusetts, on March 9th, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Laura (Medeiros) Ayres.

    She earned a Master's Degree and spent much of her career in educational administration, working as a professor. Earlier in her life, she dedicated herself to her faith as a nun, and she also served as one of the first X-ray technicians at St. Luke's Hospital. A devoted parishioner of Holy Name Church in Fall River, she enjoyed sharing her voice as a member of the church choir.

    She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, the late Louis Ayres, Manuel Portas, Dolores D. Blaise, Frank A. Ayres, and Dorothy Morin.

    Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 19th, beginning at 10 AM at Holy Name Church, Hanover Street, Fall River. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford.
