Irene Carreiro

Irene (Costa) Carreiro, 90, of Clifton Rehabilitation Nursing Center, 500 Wilbur Ave. Somerset, died Wednesday at the center. She was the wife of the late Mariano O. Carreiro.

Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose and Mercedes da Costa.

Mrs. Carreiro had worked at the former Paul Silver Company as a polisher for several years.

She was a member of Santo Christo Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Maria O. Moniz and Eduarda Maranhao both of Fall River, MA; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Herculano Carreiro and Domingos Carreiro and sister of the late Maria Tavares.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5 - 8 p.m.
