Irene L. Hrycin

Irene L. Hrycin, 99, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away on August 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.

    She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Hrycin, Sr.

    Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Michael Zwolinski and Anna (Szczepanic) Zwolinski.

    Before retiring, Irene worked professionally as a bookkeeper in the accounting industry. She was a pillar of her community and deeply involved with St. Patrick's School and Good Shepherd Parish. Irene had a warm and welcoming spirit; she never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. A natural caretaker, she was a supportive presence to all until the very end. Her interests were a reflection of her vibrant life; she was fond of reading, cooking, and baking. She also had a green thumb, finding joy in flowers and gardening, and took a keen interest in her family's ancestry. Most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

    Irene is survived by her sons Frank Hrycin (Donna), and Michael Hrycin and his wife Sabrina. She was a cherished grandmother to Rachel, Michael II (Molly), and Stefano, and great grandmother to Michael III. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Anna L. Hrycin, her siblings, Frances West, Helen Biszko, and Michael Zwolinski, and by her beloved cat, Mindi.

    A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main Street Chapel, 2064 South Main Street in Fall River.

    Her funeral will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Parish on South Main Street in Fall River. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
