James Walsh

James Michael “Jimmy” Walsh, of Westport, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly July 10, 2026 at the age of 61. He was the husband of the late Rosemary L. (Reagan) Walsh. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late James J. Walsh and Evelyn (Murray) Walsh.

    James was employed as an automotive mechanic at the Portsmouth Abbey School for over 40 years and was affectionately known as “MacGyver”. If something was broken, he would find a way to fix it.

    In his free time, he enjoyed relaxing in his backyard, and always repairing cars, dirt bikes or anything motorized. He also was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races at Seekonk Speedway, having many family members who raced.

    He is survived by his daughter, Kaleigh Walsh and his grandson Kylo Walsh of Fall River. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Colleen Taylor and her husband Robert of Fall River and his brother John Murray of Tiverton, RI. He is also survived by his step-mother Gloria Jean Walsh and his four step-sisters: Teresa Nichols (late husband Jamie) , Dr. Sheila Ashley and her husband Robert, Donna Hardy and her husband John, and Stacey Harwood (late husband Barry).

    His visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 4-7 PM at Oliveira Funeral Home, South Main Street Chapel, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River, MA.

    His funeral will be held on Monday, July 27, 2027 at 10 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 160 Rock Street, Fall River, MA. We are asking everyone attending the funeral to please meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, RI.
