Joan J. Cormier, 88, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of Roger Cormier.
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Christopher J. and Dora (Limoge) Araujo.
She and her husband were private business owners for decades, and later in life she became a proud graduate of Bristol Community College where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and went on to share her knowledge as a tutor at BCC for many years. Joan was well-known for her kind and loving disposition. She possessed a deep appreciation for the arts and culture; she was a former member of the South Coast Opera Society and had the distinct honor of sitting in the Francis Robinson box at the Metropolitan Opera on three occasions. She was a world traveler and especially loved cruises. She was also a boater for over thirty years, and made a home aboard her trawler, Golden Apples, at Pirate’s Cove for a decade.
In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by her two daughters, Coral Ann Roberts of Alabama, and Chrisanne Souza of Massachusetts; her brother, Roger Araujo of New York; her grandchildren, Adam Souza, and Alexa Roberts, and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandchild, Morgan Souza.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 11, from 11 AM - 1 PM, at the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 S. Main St., Fall River, MA 02724. Burial will be private.
