FALL RIVER - Joao Camara, 88, of Fall River, died Friday, September 30th at Southpointe Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Deolinda (Rocha) Camara.
Born in Sao Antonio alem Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Vicent and Mariana Camara; he emigrated to this country in 1966 and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mr. Camara worked as a maintenance man at the Foxboro Company and as a machine operator at the former Rueping East Company of Taunton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Maria Eva Almeida and her husband Larry of Fall River and Marilia Colucciello and her husband John of No. Dartmouth, MA; a son, John Camara and his wife Lydia of Fall River; a brother, Alberto Camara of St. Michael, Azores; two granddaughters, Tanya Medeiros and Courtney Almeida; three grandsons, Kevin, Shawn and Eric; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Joseph F. Camara and the brother of the late Lauriano, Ilidio, Zelia, Serafina, Natalia and Olivia Camara . The family would like to acknowledge Southpointe Rehabilitation Center and Kindred Hospice for their extraordinary care provided to him during his stay.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, October 4th at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8 p.m.
