Joao P. Martins

FALL RIVER - Joao P. Martins, 78, of Dundee St., Fall River, died Sunday, May 14th at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Lurdes (Martins) Martins.
Born in Ciboes Terras de Bouro Braga Portugal, he was a son of the late Joao Batista Martins and Florinda Custodia Pereira; he emigrated to this country in 1996. While living in Portugal Mr. Martins worked as a farmer and in this country as a baker at New England Muffin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Helena M. Da Anunciacao and her husband Paulo of Fall River; a son, Pedro Martins and his wife Irene of Westport, MA; a brother, Manuel Martins of Mississauga, Canada; four grandchildren; Selina Martins, Calvin Da Anunciacao, Cristian EJ Da Anunciacao and Sara Martins; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria de Jesus Teixeira, Antonio Martins and Esmael Martins.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 19th at 8:15 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Bedford Street, Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Stafford Rd., Fall River. Calling hours morning of funeral 8:15-10:15 a.m.
