Joaquim M. Mathias

FALL RIVER… Joaquim "Jack" "Zeke" M. Mathias, 89, of Fall River passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home.
He was the husband of Hilda (Cadima) Mathias of Fall River to whom he was married for 67 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel Marques and Maria (Moniz) Matias.
Mr. Mathias was a member of the Portuguese American Club and Club 35. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame Football Fan, enjoyed Venture Music Group and loved trips to Foxwoods, golf and bowling.
Along with his wife, survivors include 3 daughters; Maureen Gaboriau and her husband Charles of Dartmouth, Donna Amaral and her husband George of Fall River, & Cathy Fitzgerald and her husband Kevin of Fall River, a son; Michael Mathias and his wife Candace of Swansea, a sister; Josephine Mathias of Fall River, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 S. Main St. Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Holy Name Church, Hanover St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday from 8 AM to 10 AM, prior to the funeral.
