FALL RIVER - John M. Carvalho, 59, of Robeson St., Fall River, a former laborer and truck driver, died Friday, January 13th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the former husband of Ana (Quental) Lopes of Fall River.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Antone R. and Alice J. (Lima) Carvalho; he was a lifelong resident of Fall River. Mr. Carvalho served honorably in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard as a Private Second Class. He enjoyed going to the beach and will be remembered as a good man, father and brother.
Besides his former wife, he is survived by two sons, Jonathan M. Carvalho and Ryan M. Carvalho, both of Fall River; a sister, Elizabeth Gomes of New Bedford, MA; three brothers, Antone R. Carvalho of Buffalo, NY, Paul F. Carvalho of New Jersey and Michael G. Carvalho of Florida; a granddaughter, Madison A. Carvalho; he also leaves a nephew, Antone G. Carvalho of Fall River; a niece, Cynthia Ann Carvalho of Buffalo, NY, Debra Santos of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard J. Carvalho and Daniel A. Carvalho.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, January 18th at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral, Spring Street. Interment with military honors in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Tuesday 6--9 p.m.
