John Frias, Sr.

John Frias, Sr., 78, of Fall River, died Saturday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Viveiros) Frias.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Francisco and Mary (Souza) Frias; he lived most of his life in this city; spending his earlier years in St. Michael, Azores. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Alphonse Costa Republican Club in Fall River.

Mr. Frias retired from the former Pioneer Finishing. He previously worked as a machine operator for 29 years at Plymouth Rubber in Canton.

He was a member of Santo Christo Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Natalie Mailloux (Husband Robert) of Fall River and Elaine Frias (Spouse Rene Collis) of St. Augustine, FL; a son, John Frias, Jr., (Wife Sharon) of Fall River; a sister, Mary Aguiar of Somerset; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 9 p.m.
