John taught Science at Westport High School for 34 years (1972-2006). At WHS, he was the pioneer of the AP Biology, Biotech and Forensic Science programs. As a "pillar" of the Science Department, John was very proud of the numerous WHS students who entered the medical and teaching professions. For his relentless dedication and passion for teaching, he was honored as the recipient of the WHS National Honor Society Teacher of the Year Award in 2005.
John was a devout Catholic and an active communicant of Santo Christo Church where he humbly served as Eucharistic Minister, Cantor, Lector and Faith Formation teacher. John left an indelible impression on all who knew and met him. He will forever be remembered as a generous, kind-hearted and loving caregiver and gentleman with a "beautiful smile!"
