Jose Tobias Carreiro

Jose Tobias Carreiro, 78, of Fall River, died Thursday at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Lourdes (Pimentel) Carreiro.

Born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao and Maria da Luz Carreiro; he resided in Fall River for the past 42 years. Mr. Carreiro worked as a machine operator for the former Sterling Wale. He was a member of Santo Christo Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Maria Grace Medeiros (husband Mark) of Bristol, RI; a son, Carlos Carreiro of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria de Lourdes Tavares, Manuel Da Costa, Joao Carreiro, Evaristo Carreiro and Connie Cordeiro.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4 - 8 p.m.
