Jose F. Martins

Jose F. Martins, 72, of Diman St., Fall River, a retired carpenter, died Monday at home. He was the husband of Maria G. (Felipe) Martins.

Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel F. and Maria Conceicao (Oliveira) Martins; he emigrated to this country in 1960. Mr. Martins was self employed carpenter for several years. He previously worked road construction and worked at the former Sagamore Mills.

He was a member of Santo Christo Church. He enjoyed staying active, especially gardening.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Ferreira of Fall River; a sister, Maria Carvalho of Canada; a granddaughter, Nicole Ferreira; and four nieces and a nephew.

His funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 6-9 p.m.
