Jose Moniz

Jose Moniz, 89, of Fall River passed away June 24, 2024 at Catholic Memorial Home, in Fall River.

 He was the widower of the late Maria Jesus (Melo Correia) Moniz.

 Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Moniz Frade and Maria Trinity (Leite) Frade.

 Prior to retiring, Jose worked for most of his career at the former Rosemar Silver Co., and was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church. He was an avid Sporting CP fan, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

 Survivors include his daughters Ana Pacheco and Malinda Moniz; his sons Alvaro Moniz, Jose Moniz, John Moniz, and Antonio Moniz; his siblings Ezequiel Moniz, Esaura Soares, Leonilde Lopes and Fatima Barbosa; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Carmina Machado, and Maria Jesus Barbosa.

 His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 8 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 – 8 PM.
