Jose P. Carreiro

Jose Pontes Carreiro, age 86, of Fall River, formerly of Westport, passed away on June 5, 2026.

    He was the widower of Maria da Conceição (Tavares) Carreiro.

    Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Carreiro Leite and the late Maria (Vidal) Carreiro. He immigrated to the United States, coming to Fall River in 1981, where he lived for many years before moving to Westport.

    Jose was a hardworking man who spent his career in the local textile manufacturing industry. He dedicated 15 years as a machine operator, working at Swan Finishing in Fall River.

    He is survived by a loving family, including his son, Antonio T. Carreiro; his brother, Antonio Carreiro; two grandchildren, Ashley Kilmer and Chelsey Carreiro; his great-grandchild Zyndel Carreiro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, the late Manuel Carreiro.

    A visitation will take place on Friday from 8 - 9:30 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
