Jose M. Paiva

FALL RIVER… Jose M. Paiva, 91, of Fall River passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Sarah Brayton Nursing Center, in Fall River.

He was the loving husband of the late Rosaria C. Paiva.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Paiva and Ezelina (Medeiros) Paiva.

Prior to retiring, Jose spent most of his career working as a union laborer in the construction industry. He was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his sons: Jose Mariano Torres Paiva (wife Filomena) of Westport, Peter J. Paiva (wife Dorothy) of Fall River, John Francis Paiva (wife Fernanda) of Westport, and David Manuel Paiva (wife Linda) of North Dartmouth; his sisters: Laurinda Paiva and Maria Olinda Frade; his brother Lucindro Paiva; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Kyle J. Paiva and brother of the late Maria Jose, Mariano, Herminia and Elvira.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 8:30 – 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Parish, South Main St. Fall River, MA. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
