Joseph S. Perry

Joseph S. Perry, 82, of Somerset, formerly of Oakwood Senior Estates, Swansea, died Tuesday at the Somerset Ridge Center. He was the husband of the late Ellena S. "Helen" (Soares) Perry.

Born in Fall River, MA; a son of the late Deigo Perreira and Mary (Sousa) Perry, he resided most of his life in Somerset.

Mr. Perry worked as an assistant grocery manager for Stop & Shop for over 40 years, retiring in 1991. He was past president of South Somerset Improvement Club and served of the executive board of Food and Commercial Worker's Union for 30 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Mac Dougall of Florida and Patricia A. Bisaillon of Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Robert Nogueira and Brian Nogueira, Kristin Bisaillon and Nicholas Bisaillon, a great-grandson, Brandon Nogueira and 2 great-granddaughters, Sophia daCosta and Stella daCosta and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Bernard Church Assonet, MA. Burial is private. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts Chapter 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements are by the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. Fall River.
