Joseph P. Souza

Joseph P. Souza, 100, of Westport, MA, a retired supervisor, died Wednesday April 22nd at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sarah (Sousa) Souza.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Jacinto P. and Francisca (Costa) Souza; Mr. Souza lived in Westport since the late 1970's and was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport. Mr. Souza worked at the former Newport Finishing for many years, retiring at the age of 62.

He is survived by his son, Joseph D. Souza (wife Fran) of Westport; two grandchildren, Dr. Rhonda Souza, M.D.(husband Herbert Poledena) and Joseph D. Souza, III (wife Tina); two great-grandchildren, Sophie M. Souza and Bennett J. Souza; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George Sousa, Ayres Sousa, Herman Pacheco, John Sousa, Mary Rapoza, Emma Silvia and Georgina Rabition.

His funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Rd., Westport. Committal prayers and interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the So. Main St. location.
