Lawrence J. Tavares

Lawrence J. Tavares, “Larry” to those who knew him, age 61, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was the husband of Tammy (Arruda) Tavares, his wife of 12 years, and a resident of Fall River, MA. Larry grew up on his great grandparents’ family farm in Tiverton RI and worked for the family business L. Tavares Trucking & Excavating for over thirty years. Before retiring he also worked for East Coast Construction.

    Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather (Papa). He could keep you laughing until your sides hurt with his funny stories. Larry was always lending a helping hand to those who needed it. His kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, his favorite cat and riding his Harley.

    Larry’s parents were the late Edna and Peewee Tavares. He is survived by two step children Nicholas Gouveia (Ashley Gouveia) and Katelynn Gouveia; two sisters Deborah Medeiros (John Medeiros Jr) and Darlene Frates (the late Robert Frates); three grandchildren Autumn, Noelle and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.
