Manuel S. Almeida

FALL RIVER… Manuel S. Almeida, 84, of Fall River passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Southpointe Rehab. & Skilled Nursing Center.
He was the loving husband of Maria J. (Rodrigues) Almeida.
Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio DaSilva and Maria Santa (Furtado) Almeida. He moved to Fall River in 1967.
Mr. Almeida worked as a Packer at the former Sterling Pile for 11 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Academica Club of Fall River. He enjoyed playing Soccer when he was in Portugal and working with his hands.
Along with his wife, survivors include his daughters, Mary Jo Cordeiro of Fall River and Rosalina Raposo of Winnipeg, Canada, his sisters, Maria Santa Pacheco and Ilda Oliveira, both ofToronto, Canada, a brother, Antonio DaSilva of Fall River, 4 grandchildren: Peter Raposo, Jennifer Raposo, Bobby Cordeiro and Kevin Almeida, 2 great grandchildren: Olivia Raposo and Lucas Raposo, several nieces and nephews. He was father of the late Duarte Manuel Almeida.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM.
